TAOS COUNTY, NM — A 36-year-old man died Monday afternoon after a logging truck wreck on U.S. Highway 64 near east Taos, reports KOB4.
The fatal accident happened near mile marker 265, about nine miles east of town. Deputies with the Taos County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at about 2:00 p.m.
Officials said the man was driving a logging truck westbound when the vehicle overturned while traveling through a left-hand curve.
The male driver, now identified as the son of former Taos mayor Daniel Barrone, died from his injuries at the scene.
An investigation into the cause of the crash remains underway. At this time, excessive speed and intoxication are not suspected factors.
