SANTA FE COUNTY, NM — Authorities were investigating a traffic incident last Wednesday, July 19, that blocked a section of Interstate 25 in southwest Santa Fe, according to the Santa Fe Police Department.

Santa Fe Police enforced a closure on the northbound side of I-25 at mile marker 279, about a mile south of Richards Avenue. It was first reported by the SFPD at about 9:35 p.m.

Authorities did not confirm whether the investigation concerned a motor vehicle crash, but drivers were asked to avoid the scene and find alternate routes.

By 9:42 p.m., all northbound traffic was being diverted at Cerrillo Road and New Mexico State Road 599.

The roadway remained closed for more than three hours as officials worked the area. At 1:00 a.m. the next morning, July 20, the northbound highway was announced reopened to traffic.

No injuries have been reported in connection to the incident.
