Semi strikes power line, forcing closure of I-40 in east Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — A section of Interstate 40 was shut down early Tuesday afternoon in east Albuquerque after a semi-truck crash involving a power line, reports KOB4.

Authorities said all lanes of I-40 between Eubank Boulevard Northeast and Juan Tabo Boulevard Northeast were closed, with westbound traffic diverted at Juan Tabo and eastbound traffic at Eubank.

Motorists heading toward the area were urged to find alternate routes as Albuquerque Police and first responders worked the scene.

As of this writing, no major injuries have been confirmed, and it remains unclear whether any other vehicles were involved.

No estimated clearance time was immediately announced.
