
SANDOVAL COUNTY, NM — Authorities were called to a serious wreck Monday evening that closed part of Southern Boulevard for hours in Rio Rancho, according to the Rio Rancho Police Department.
The accident occurred on a stretch of the road between Pinetree Road and New Mexico State Road 528. It was first tweeted by the RRPD shortly before 6:24 p.m.
No information regarding the cause of the crash or the involved vehicles has been disclosed, but a section of Southern Boulevard was closed in both directions.
Motorists were instructed to find alternate routes around the scene as crews worked to clear the area.

Shortly before 1:00 a.m. the next morning, more than six hours later, the accident had been cleared from the roadway and all lanes were reopened to the public.

It remains unclear whether anyone was seriously injured and/or taken to a hospital.
