Rollover crash shuts down NM-227 for hours in NE Vado

DOÑA ANA COUNTY, NM — A vehicle overturned in a wreck Tuesday morning on New Mexico State Road 227 near northeast Vado, according to NM Roads.

Emergency crews responded to the scene near the west roundabout at Vado Drive and Stern Drive. The crash was first recorded in the NM Roads map index at 9:30 a.m.

It was unclear what led up to the accident or how many vehicles were involved, but a span of NM-227 was closed.

Drivers were instructed to reduce speed and exercise extra caution as first responders tended to the site.

As of 12:45 p.m., more than three hours later, the road remained blocked, indicating a major wreck and extended emergency response.

At this time, officials have not disclosed any details regarding potential injuries.
