Police searching for suspect in fatal hit-and-run on Interstate 40

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – The driver responsible for the death of a pedestrian in Albuquerque is being sought by police, according to KRQE.

The incident took place March 2 on Interstate 40 eastbound in the vicinity of Louisiana Boulevard and Wyoming Boulevard. Responding officers found a man had been struck and killed by a vehicle there shortly before 5 a.m. He was identified as Johniee Apodaca.

Police said the suspected driver, identified as Nathaniel Campos, had struck Apodaca and left the scene. A warrant has now been issued for the arrest of Campos. Investigators said he was seen on video driving near the scene with a damaged vehicle.

Portion of New Mexico 51 shut down to accident

SIERRA COUNTY, NM – An accident caused road closures in a section of Sierra County during Thursday morning’s commute.

According to an advisory on NMRoads at 7:30 a.m., the crash shut down lanes in both directions on New Mexico 51.

Westbound lanes were the first to reopen, while eastbound lanes remained closed from mile marker 7 to mile marker 9, west of Elephant Butte Dam.

Crash closes stretch of 6th Street in NW Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Deputies responded to a crash in northwest Albuquerque on Wednesday evening, the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office reported.

In an advisory issued at 5:42 p.m., the sheriff’s office said the wreck happened in the area of 6th Street NW and Lomas Boulevard NW.

All of southbound 6th Street was closed and traffic was being diverted at Slate Street. All lanes were reopened about an hour later.
