ALBUQUERQUE, NM — Major property damage was reported by two east Albuquerque auto businesses after a police chase led to a crash Wednesday, August 30, according to KRQE.
The events unfolded at Royal Car Wash and Freedom Auto Sales, along Central Avenue in the city’s East Central Business Park area, at about 1:00 a.m.
Surveillance cameras at Royal Car Wash captured Albuquerque Police Department vehicles pursuing a dark truck that sped into the business’ car wash. The fleeing vehicle then collided with a white truck that was stationed inside the wash bay, pushing the second truck into wall on the opposite side of the lot. The fleeing truck was then seen accelerating again before it crashed into the neighboring Freedom Auto Sales shop.
In the aftermath of the wreck, the striking truck’s tail end could be seen protruding from the building. Inside, a twelve-thousand pound lift that was meant to be permanently mounted to the ground was found ripped out and completely damaged. Additionally two walls, a lift, and a truck that was supported by the lift were also destroyed.
Although a technician was inside the building as cinderblock from the outside wall scattered during the crash, no major injuries were reported.
The Albuquerque Police Department has not released further information on the incident, and no information regarding pending charges has been confirmed.
