Police conducting DWI investigation after driver crashes in Gallup

GALLUP, NM – Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that occurred in Gallup on Monday afternoon.

A release from the Gallup Police Department states that officers responded to the scene at 317 East Lincoln Avenue at about 3:49 p.m. after the accident was reported by the driver.

The responding officers found the vehicle off the cliffside of Sky City Park. The driver, a 19-year-old woman, was taken to an area hospital.

Police said dispatchers reported difficulty understanding the driver, who appeared to be slurring her speech, and added that an open container of an alcoholic beverage was observed inside the vehicle. The driver is now the subject of a DWI blood warrant in connection with the incident.

Wreck involving wrong-way driver shuts down I-25 south

ALBUQURQUE, NM – Authorities were called to a crash in Albuquerque caused by a wrong-way driver on Wednesday night.

According to a traffic alert from the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office at 8:13 p.m., the accident shut down all of southbound Interstate 25 at the 215 mile marker near the Broadway exit. Traffic was diverted while deputies conducted a felony stop on the driver who caused the accident.

Motorists were advised to avoid the area. All lanes were reopened about 90 minutes later.

Crash causes traffic delays along New Mexico 423

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – A stretch of New Mexico 423 was closed Tuesday evening due to an accident, according to NMRoads.

An advisory at 6:54 p.m. stated that the accident occurred on NM 423 at mile marker 3 at 2nd Street. The right lane and right shoulder of the roadway were shut down while emergency crews were responding.

Drivers were advised to expect delays and use caution when traveling through the area.
