LAS CRUCES, NM – According to KOB, one of the 15 people injured when a driver crashed through a Savers store located at 2340 N Main St on Tuesday has died.
A 69-year-old driving a Ford Explorer accidentally pushed the gas pedal instead of the brake as they entered a parking space in front of the store around 10 a.m.
The explorer slammed through the glass near the self-checkout area and turned right as it went through the store.
Rescue crews transported 10 of the 15 people hurt in the collision to area hospitals. The other five people were treated at the scene. One of the ten hospitalized, a 67-year-old woman, died from her injuries.
The driver of the Ford Explorer was not hurt in the incident.
It is unclear what, if any, charges the Ford Explorer driver may face.
Driver dies after metal welding rod crashes through windshield in Carlsbad
CARLSBAD, NM – A driver died after they were impaled by a metal welding rod that went through their windshield in the 5000 block of National Parks Hwy on April 24, according to KOB.
The metal rod crashed through the driver’s windshield around 12:10. Authorities believe an unsecured load caused the crash.
Rescue crews performed life-saving measures on the victim before pronouncing them dead at the scene.
The Carlsbad Police Department is investigating the incident. They are offering a $5,000-50,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest in the case.
Wreck blocks traffic on NM 9 near Animas
ANIMAS, NM – According to NMRoads, a crash disrupted traffic at County Rd C113 and NM 9 on Wednesday.
First responders were called to the scene around 9:42 a.m.
The cause of the collision is under investigation.
