ALBUQUERQUE, NM — One person was hospitalized early Saturday after being hit by a driver near Paradise Hills Shopping Center in Albuquerque, reports KRQE.

The incident occurred in the area of Coors Boulevard Northwest and Irving Boulevard on September 17, shortly before 12:36 a.m.

An early investigation indicates the victim was walking from west to east across Coors Boulevard at the same time a bronze 2015 GMC Yukon was heading southbound on the road. At one point, the pedestrian was hit by the SUV, resulting in a serious injury.

Officials said the driver in the Yukon fled the scene without stopping.

Medics rushed the victim to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Investigators said the pedestrian appears to be at fault in the crash, but a search for the hit-and-run driver remains ongoing and charges are expected to be filed.

At this time, intoxication is not a suspected factor in the incident.
