ALBUQUERQUE, NM – A woman died late Monday night after a hit-and-run pedestrian crash in Albuquerque’s Jerry Cline Park neighborhood, according to KRQE.

The fatal incident took place near the intersection of Pennsylvania Street and Mountain Road, south of Interstate 40. Albuquerque Police responded to the scene at around 11:20 p.m.

Preliminary details show the woman was on foot and pushing a shopping cart northbound on Pennsylvania Street. At one point, she was hit by a driver in a silver Volkswagen sedan who fled the scene.

The victim died as a result of her injuries, confirmed officials.

An investigation and search for the hit-and-run suspect remains ongoing, but “pedestrian error” and “speed” are believed to have contributed to the crash.
