Pedestrian injured after being struck by hit-and-run driver in Clovis

CLOVIS, NM – A pedestrian was injured after being struck by a vehicle in Clovis last week, according to a release from the Clovis Police Department.

Police and emergency crews responded to the area of Torreon Street and Gidding Street on Sept. 19 at about 9:10 p.m. They found the victim, identified as 62-year-old Casey Henry, lying in the roadway with severe injuries. A witness reported that he was walking in the road and was struck by a southbound vehicle that left the scene.

Through an anonymous tip, police found the vehicle believed to have been involved in the collision, a white Nissan Sentra, parked at a housing complex on W. Grand Avenue. The car had damage matching that of the pedestrian crash.

Police say the vehicle owner is cooperating with investigators and reported that the vehicle was involved in a crash that night. The driver of the car has not yet been positively identified.

The Major Crash Team is continuing to investigate the case with assistance from the Clovis Police Department Special Operations Unit.

Accident blocks I-25 southbound ramp at Lead/Coal Avenue

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Motorists were alerted to a crash disrupting traffic on southbound Interstate 25 in Albuquerque on Friday afternoon.

The advisory posted on NMRoads at 12:01 p.m. states the accident happened at mile marker 224 on I-25. The southbound ramp to the Lead/Coal Avenue exit was shut down as emergency crews worked the scene.

Drivers were advised to seek an alternate route.

Lane closed on westbound I-40 due to rollover crash involving semi

LAGUNA, NM – A traffic alert was issued Thursday morning by the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office due to a rollover wreck on Interstate 40.

The accident, which involved a semi-truck, took place in the westbound lanes of the interstate at the 137 mile marker. The number one lane was shut down due to the incident.

The BCSO said the investigation into the crash is being handled by the Laguna Police Department. There were no immediate reports of injuries.
