Pedestrian hit, killed by vehicle on I-40 near Albuquerque’s West Old Town

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — One person was fatally injured Thursday afternoon in a pedestrian collision on Interstate 40 near downtown Albuquerque, according to KOB4.

New Mexico State Police responded to the scene on the eastbound lanes at Rio Grande Boulevard, near the city’s West Old Town neighborhood. The fatal incident was first reported by KOB at about 1:28 p.m.

The circumstances behind the event have not been disclosed, but a section of the eastbound interstate was blocked in the area during an investigation.

It was unclear whether the driver remained at the scene. No arrests or pending charges have been reported as of this writing.
