Pedestrian hit, critically hurt by vehicle on Montaño Rd in north Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — One person was seriously injured Saturday evening in a pedestrian crash on Montaño Road Northeast in north Albuquerque, reports the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred at the intersection with Edith Boulevard Northeast, in the Los Alamos area. Deputies responded to the scene shortly before 7:28 p.m.

Authorities have not disclosed the sequence of events leading up to the crash, but the pedestrian was said to have “suffered great bodily harm.” First responders rushed the victim to University of New Mexico Medical Hospital (UNMH) in critical condition.

All westbound lanes of Montaño Road were shut down in the area during the response and initial investigation.

By 9:36 p.m., more than two hours after the initial report, crews had cleared the scene and all lanes were reopened to the public.


The sheriff’s office has not provided any information on the driver. No pending charges have been reported at this time.
