Pedestrian hit, critically hurt by vehicle on Central Ave in east Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — A man was hospitalized early Monday after a pedestrian collision in east Albuquerque’s International District, according to KOAT.

The Albuquerque Police Department reported the incident on Central Avenue, between Charleston Street Northeast and Pennsylvania Street Southeast, at about 12:42 a.m.

While the circumstances of the event remain unclear, officials said the man was crossing Central Avenue on foot when he was struck by a vehicle.

First responders rushed the male pedestrian to an area hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

A section of Central Avenue was shut down in both directions during the emergency response.

Authorities said the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with an investigation, which remains ongoing.

As of this writing, the APD has determined that “pedestrian error” caused the crash. No charges have been filed against the driver.
