Pedestrian fatally struck by train on tracks in Las Cruces

LAS CRUCES, NM – A man died after being hit by a train in Las Cruces last week, reports the Las Cruces Sun News.

The victim was identified as 46-year-old Manuel Aguirre. Police said he was walking on the railroad tracks near the 1700 block of south Main Street on Nov. 26 when the accident took place just before 2 p.m. An investigation indicated that Aguirre failed to heed audible warnings from a BNSF train heading north and was struck. He was found dead at the scene.

The train was stopped and traffic at two railroad crossings was diverted during the accident response and investigation.

Crash blocks southbound lanes of Tramway Boulevard

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Deputies with the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office responded to a crash at an intersection in Albuquerque on Sunday evening.

An advisory from the BCSO shortly after 7:30 p.m. stated that the southbound lanes of Tramway Boulevard at Tramway Place were blocked due to the accident.

About an hour later, the sheriff’s office released an update saying that all lanes had been reopened.

Taos man dies in multi-vehicle wreck at New Mexico 68 intersection

TAOS, NM – One driver was killed and two others injured in a collision in Taos County last week, according to the Santa Fe New Mexican.

The fatal wreck took place Nov. 24 in the area of New Mexico 60 and West Romero Road. The Taos County Sheriff’s Office said that 38-year-old Jorge Corona of Taos was headed north on New Mexico 68 when another vehicle pulled out in front of him, resulting in a crash that also involved a third vehicle.

Corona was ejected from his car and was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two drivers were transported to Holy Cross Medical Center with serious injuries.

The county sheriff said speed and alcohol were suspected to have been contributing factors in the accident.
