Pedestrian dies after hit-and-run crash in Albuquerque’s Alamosa area

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — A man was fatally injured early Tuesday when he was struck by a driver on Central Avenue Southwest in west Albuquerque, reports Rio Rancho Observer.

Albuquerque Police responded to the scene on the westbound lanes of the road near 59th Street Southwest at about 3:00 a.m.

The circumstances behind the incident remain unclear at this time, but an early investigation indicates the man was hit by a vehicle on the westbound side of Central Avenue.

Authorities confirmed the victim died from his injuries at the scene.

Investigators were working to determine whether the victim was crossing the road at the time or whether he had been in the roadway for other reasons.

A search for the driver and an investigation into the crash remain ongoing.
