Pedestrian crash in Fair West area claims 1 life, leaves 1 critically hurt

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — One person has died after a pedestrian crash early Friday that left another person critically injured in southeast Albuquerque, reports KOAT.

The fatal incident took place at the intersection of San Mateo Boulevard and Central Avenue, in the city’s Fair West neighborhood. Albuquerque Police responded to the area shortly after 4:00 a.m.

It remains unclear what circumstances led up to the event, but officers arrived to find one person critically injured. The patient was rushed to a local hospital where they were later pronounced.

Another person sustained injuries considered non-life-threatening, but the APD has not released any additional information.

All lanes at the intersection were shut down during the response and initial investigation.
