ALBUQUERQUE, NM — A motorcyclist died Saturday afternoon after colliding with a vehicle near east Albuquerque’s Chelwood Vista neighborhood, according to KRQE.
Albuquerque police responded to the scene at Copper Avenue Northeast and Tramway Boulevard Northeast. The fatal crash was first reported by KRQE at 4:49 p.m.
A preliminary investigation shows a blue BMW was traveling westbound on Copper Avenue when it crossed the eastbound lanes to turn left onto southbound Tramway Boulevard. A motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on Copper Avenue at a high rate of speed when they struck the BMW at the intersection.
The rider was pronounced deceased at the scene, confirmed authorities.
An investigation was underway, but authorities said intoxication does not appear to have been a factor.
Authorities learned the driver of the BMW possessed a revoked license, but no charges were pending as of this writing.
