BERNALILLO COUNTY, NM — One person lost their life Wednesday evening following a collision off Interstate 40 in far west Albuquerque, according to the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office.
The accident was reported on the interstate’s north frontage road near Exit 147, in the West of Westland area. It was first reported by the BCSO at 7:53 p.m., when deputies had already arrived on the scene.
Officials did not immediately say what led up to the crash, but one person suffered “great bodily harm.” The patient was being rushed to a local hospital when they died from their injuries.
All lanes of the westbound frontage road were shut down as the BCSO conducted an investigation.
