Officials release more info on deadly hit-and-run on Avenida Bernalillo

BERNALILLO, NM – According to KOAT, officials have provided more details concerning a fatal hit-and-run collision that occurred on E Avenida Bernalillo near S Hill on Nov. 29.

The driver of a red Dodge Ram 1500 hit the 15-year-old boy as he was walking with three others east around 12:48 a.m. The collision sent the victim flying into a ditch. He died at the scene.

Authorities urge anyone with information regarding the collision to contact Crime Stoppers.

 Driver crashes into motel, kills 1 person

LAS CRUCES, NM – A driver slammed into the Imperial Sky Motel, killing one person and injuring another on Dec. 6, according to KOAT.

Alan Leyva-Vasquez, 22, allegedly put his vehicle in reverse and plowed into the room around 11:30 a.m.

The crash killed Kari Scholin, 55. Another person in the room suffered minor injuries.

Authorities arrested Lyva-Vasquez.

Multiple vehicles disabled by objects in roadway near Nine Mile Hill Northeast

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – According to KOAT, crews shut down I-40 WB near Atrisco Vista Blvd because multiple vehicles were disabled after hitting an object in the road on Monday.

The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office posted about the closure at 5:30 p.m. All lanes were reopened at 6:44 p.m.

It is unclear if anyone was hurt in the incident.
