Officials release more details on deadly crash at Santa Fe Place Mall

SANTA FE, NM – According to KRQE, officials have provided more details concerning the deadly collision that occurred at Santa Fe Place Mall on March 24.

Roberto Armijo thought he put his Honda Civic in drive instead of reverse and pressed the gas pedal, causing the vehicle to drive onto a median and hit Harley Smith, 75, who was sitting on a bench.

Smith died in the crash.

The Santa Fe Police Department has not charged or cited Armijo because citations cannot be issued for careless driving on private property under New Mexico State Law.

Sentencing of DUI driver delayed to Wednesday

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – The sentencing of a woman who caused a fatal DUI crash at Paseo Del Norte Boulevard Northeast and Interstate 25 southbound on January 21, 2024, has been delayed to Wednesday, according to KOB.

Adamaris Martinez was driving the wrong way on Paseo Del Norte Boulevard Northeast when she collided with a vehicle driven by Colter Anderson. Anderson and his fiancée, Jade Lucero, were on their way to their home in Rio Rancho. Lucero died in the collision.

Martinez admitted she was drinking at a birthday party before driving. She pleaded guilty to homicide by vehicle, causing great bodily harm while driving drunk.

Martinez could face up to 13 years in prison. She is expected to be sentenced on Wednesday.

Auto accident disrupts traffic near Academy Acres North

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – According to KKOB Traffic, a crash blocked traffic at Interstate 25 southbound and San Mateo Boulevard Northeast Tuesday evening.

Emergency crews responded to the incident around 5:04 p.m.

Officials have not provided more details.
