Officials release more details on deadly auto vs. semi wreck on Interstate 40

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – According to KOAT, officials have provided more information concerning the fatal auto vs. semi-truck collision that occurred on Interstate 40 near Rio Grande Boulevard Northwest on Sunday.

Cecil Barrera was driving when another car slammed into a jersey barrier. Barrera tried to avoid the crash and pressed the brakes. He slid under a semi-truck before his vehicle caught on fire.

First responders transported Barrera to an area hospital, where he died.

The New Mexico State Police is investigating the incident.

1 person hurt in rollover wreck in southwest Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – One person was injured in a crash at Isleta Boulevard Southwest and Rio Bravo Boulevard Southwest Sunday evening, according to the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials posted about the incident on X around 7:26 p.m.

The collision blocked two lanes of southbound Isleta Boulevard Southwest.

Crews took one person to an area hospital with serious injuries.

The incident is under investigation.

Deputies respond to a collision in Cedar Crest

CEDAR CREST, NM – According to the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to an accident at New Mexico 14 and Narcisco Road Saturday afternoon.

The incident was reported to the authorities at approximately 3:07 p.m.

It is unclear if anyone was hurt in the crash.
