Off-duty Questa police officer killed in Taos motorcycle collision

TAOS, NM – An off-duty police officer was killed when his motorcycle was involved in a collision with a vehicle in Taos on Friday afternoon, the Taos News reported.

The victim was identified as Anthony Martinez, who joined the Questa Police Department this past May after two years with the Taos Police Department.

The crash took place in the area of Albright Street and Paseo del Pueblo Sur at about 2 p.m. Taos Police said Martinez’s motorcycle collided with a Chevy Equinox at the intersection. Martinez suffered fatal injuries, while the driver of the Equinox was taken to Holy Cross Medical Center with undisclosed injuries.

The intersection was partially closed for hours while police and emergency crews responded. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

Crash blocks portion of Interstate 25 in Bernal

BERNAL, NM – A crash disrupted traffic along a stretch of Interstate 25 in San Miguel County on Sunday afternoon, authorities said.

An advisory from NMRoads issued at 1:15 p.m. stated that the wreck occurred on I-25 southbound at mile marker 330 in Bernal.

The roadway and the left shoulder were closed, and traffic was being diverted onto the frontage road until the scene could be cleared.

Fatal accident involving motorcycle reported in NW Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a fatal accident in northwest Albuquerque on Friday afternoon.

A report by KOAT stated the incident involved a motorcycle, and occurred in the area of El Pueblo Road and 2nd Street NW at about 3:52 p.m. No details were released regarding the person who was killed.

Westbound El Pueblo and southbound 2nd Street were closed for the crash investigation by BCSO deputies. Drivers were asked to use Ortega Road or Ranchitos Road as alternate routes.
