NMSP responds to train derailment along US-60 near NE Willard

TORRANCE COUNTY, NM — Multiple agencies were called to the scene of a train derailment Sunday along U.S. Highway 60 near northeast Willard, reports KOAT.

The incident occurred on the tracks near mile marker 231, west of County Road B083 N, or Lucy Road.

Details remain limited, but New Mexico State Police said one car of the 26-car train derailed.

As of this writing, no injuries have been reported, and a hazmat crews was not called to the site.

An investigation by the NMSP, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), and Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) remains ongoing.
