CIBOLA COUNTY, NM — At least one person died Thursday afternoon after a tractor-trailer overturned on Interstate 40 near the Laguna Pueblo, according to KOAT.

New Mexico State Police said the fatal accident kept commuters at a standstill for hours.

It was unclear what caused the semi-truck to roll over, but authorities said the long delay was due to the wreck’s location, making it difficult for officers to re-route traffic. It also took an extended time to get a commercial-sized tow truck at the scene to remove the larger truck.

As of this writing, authorities have not disclosed any information on the person killed or confirmed any other injuries.

By the time KOAT updated the story at 8:28 a.m., all eastbound lanes had been reopened.
