NMSP patrol car struck by alleged drunk driver

MCKINLEY COUNTY, NM – New Mexico State Police arrested an alleged drunk driver who struck an NMSP patrol car during a traffic stop last week.

According to NMSP’s Facebook post, the collision took place Thursday night at about 10 p.m. after a State Police officer stopped a reckless driver along Interstate 40 westbound near milepost 31 in McKinley County.

While the officer was speaking with the driver, a red Kia passenger car sideswiped the patrol unit and came to rest a short distance away. The officer and the driver from the initial traffic stop were not injured, but the patrol unit had significant damage and was disabled.

NMSP said field sobriety tests were administered on the Kia driver, identified as 41-year-old Tiffany Jim of Ganado, Arizona, and she was determined to be intoxicated.

Jim was arrested and booked into the McKinley County Adult Detention Center on charges of aggravated DWI, careless driving, and open container.

Albuquerque intersection closed in all directions due to crash

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Deputies with the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office responded to a crash in Albuquerque early Saturday morning.

According to a BCSO traffic alert at 2:50 a.m., the accident occurred at the intersection of Atrisco Vista Boulevard and Dennis Chavez Boulevard.

Traffic was blocked in all directions while the wreck was being cleared.

Accident shuts down Interstate 10 west in Deming area

DEMING, NM – The New Mexico Department of Transportation said an accident disrupted traffic along a stretch of Interstate 10 in the Deming area late Friday night.

An advisory on NMRoads posted at 10:11 p.m. stated that the crash shut down I-10 westbound at mile marker 112, 23 miles west of Las Cruces.

Traffic was being diverted to New Mexico 549.
