NMSP officers perform PIT maneuver on stolen TCSO vehicle

TAOS COUNTY, NM – According to KRQE, a man who stole a Taos County Sheriff’s Office vehicle was hurt when New Mexico State Police Officers performed a PIT maneuver on the vehicle and crashed it near Paseo Del Canon W and Paseo Del Pueblo Sur on Sunday.

Shay Anthony Hawes, 39, allegedly stole the TCSO vehicle around 2:30 a.m. A deputy spotted the Hawes as he was heading south on Paseo Del Pueblo Sur near Albright St. The deputy attempted to pull over Hawes, but Hawes sped off and turned right onto Paseo Del Canon.

NMSP performed a PIT Maneuver on the stolen vehicle, totaling both vehicles.

Authorities arrested Hawes and transported him to Holy Cross Hospital for a head injury. Hawes was booked in the Taos County Adult Detention Center once he was medically cleared.

Officials searched Hawes’s Georgia driver’s license and learned that he is a felon. He is charged with felon in possession of a firearm because the stolen unit had a gun in it. He is also charged with criminal trespass, out-of-state-fugitive, aggravated fleeing a law enforcement officer, unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, and assault with intent to commit a violent felony.

Crash reported near Boulton Gardens

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – A wreck was reported at Goff Blvd SW and 5 Points Rd SW on Saturday, according to BCSO.

The incident happened around 10:19 a.m.

Officials closed down all lanes in the intersection to work the scene.

Drivers were urged to avoid the area.

Emergency crews respond to wreck in Los Cruces

LOS CRUCES, NM – According to NMRoads, first responders were called to the scene of an auto accident on I-25 near Lohman Ave on Monday.

Dispatchers received calls concerning the incident around 8:41 a.m.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.
