NMSP officer injured in rollover crash during pursuit of suspect

SANTA FE, NM – A New Mexico State Police officer was injured in a crash during the pursuit of a suspect on Sunday afternoon, the Santa Fe New Mexican reported.

The incident began on northbound Interstate 25 near Santo Domingo Pueblo, where NSMP officers were assisting U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs police with a traffic stop at around noon.

The driver fled the stop and state police officers set out in pursuit of the vehicle. While chasing the fleeing suspect, a NMSP officer was involved in a rollover accident near Avenida Del Sur and Route 14 south of Santa Fe. 

The officer suffered injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, and was taken to an area hospital. Another state police vehicle sustained minor damage during the chase.

The suspect escaped in the vehicle, and was still being sought.

Driver hospitalized following accident near U.S. 285

CHAVES COUNTY, NM – A driver was injured a single-vehicle wreck in Chaves County last week, according to the Chaves County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the crash March 12 shortly before 3 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. 285 and Anasazi Road. A vehicle was found to have rolled over with a female driver inside.

The driver was assessed at the scene and was transported to a local hospital by emergency crews. No information was released on her condition.

The crash is under investigation by the sheriff’s office.

Crash causes lane closures at intersection in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – A crash caused lane closures in a section of northeast Albuquerque on Sunday afternoon.

In a traffic alert posted at 3:06 p.m., the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office said deputes responded to the intersection of Edith Boulevard NE and Osuna Road NE.

As a result of the accident, eastbound Osuna Road and southbound Edith Boulevard were shut down. Drivers were advised to use caution in the area.
