SANTA FE, NM – Authorities have identified the man killed in what was labelled as a road rage incident in Santa Fe last Friday night.

This is an update to a previous story.

The Santa Fe New Mexican reports the victim was 32-year-old Joaquin Martin of Santa Fe.  The suspect in the case, 47-year-old Eleazar Flores-Torres, faces multiple charges including first-degree murder and aggravated battery.

According to Santa Fe police, Flores-Torres’s wife said her husband made a U-turn while he was driving a Jeep Cherokee on Rufina Street and cut off both a Nissan Rogue and a Cadillac SUV driven by Martin.

A statement of probable cause said that an argument subsequently broke out between Flores-Torres and Martin, and Flores-Torres ran over Martin three times with the Jeep before fleeing the scene.  Martin died of his injuries at an area hospital.

Flores-Torres was later arrested and booked into the Santa Fe County jail, where he was ordered held without bond.
