News: University runner killed after being struck by vehicle

PORTALES, NM – A cross country runner was fatally injured last weekend after he was hit by a truck, according to KRQE.

The man was running across the intersection of Highway 70 and West University Drive when he was struck by a pickup truck. He died at the scene of the crash.

The wreck happened on Friday, Jan. 7th.

The runner was not in the designated crosswalk at the time of the accident, according to New Mexico State Police.

The runner was a 28-year-old attending Eastern New Mexico University.
