News: Semi-truck involved in fatal crash on Interstate 10 near Deming

DEMING, NM – Hidalgo County Fire and Rescue was on the scene of a fatal crash on Interstate 10 Friday afternoon, according to KVIA.

A semi-truck and another vehicle were reportedly involved in the accident near the Hachita exit near Deming. At least one person died, but no details were provided on the victim’s identity.

The New Mexico Department of Transportation said the incident was followed by at least two other crashes on I-10 westbound, causing the highway to be closed between mile markers 49 and 55. Traffic was reported to be backed up for about ten miles before the westbound lanes eventually reopened by about 10 p.m.
