TUCUMARI, NM – New Mexico State Police are investigating a deadly rollover crash that occurred on Interstate 40 on Sunday morning, reports KAMR.
Investigators say a 26-year-old man was driving a Chevy Tahoe east on I-40 west of Tucumcari at about 8:19 a.m. when the vehicle went off the road and struck a guardrail.
The vehicle rolled over and a passenger was ejected. The passenger, identified as 59-year-old Catalina Blanco Hernandez of Phoenix, was pronounced dead after being rushed to an area hospital. State police said she was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The driver and a 19-year-old male passenger suffered injuries that were not regarded as life-threatening.
