FORT SUMNER, NM – A hit-and-run accident involving two vehicles injured a Roswell police officer on Tuesday, KOB 4 reports.
The driver of a Chevy Tahoe was traveling westbound on 7th Street when it struck a Roswell police unit at the intersection with Main Street. The Tahoe did not stop at the stop sign and hit the vehicle on the driver’s side.
The vehicle departed the scene but was later found on North Virginia Avenue, in the 600 block.
The accident happened at around 7 p.m. Tuesday.
The officer’s vehicle sustained serious damage. The officer was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The Tahoe’s driver was interviewed at a police station yesterday and was released. The investigation is ongoing.
