LOS ALAMOS, NM – A plea agreement was reached last week in a traffic collision in Los Alamos that injured a bicyclist, according to the Los Alamos Reporter.
Brian A. Jean was charged in the crash that occurred March 10 on Diamond Drive at 35th Street. Jean was driving a pickup truck and turning onto 35th Street when he told police he heard and felt something collide with his vehicle.
Jean said he then noticed the bicycle rider on the road, and added that he had never seen the cyclist until after the crash occurred. The 50-year-old cyclist was injured and hospitalized for two weeks at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Santa Fe.
Under the plea agreement accepted by Municipal Judge Elizabeth Allen, Jean pleaded no contest to turning and stopping movements and a required signal violation. An initial charge of careless driving was dismissed.
