News: Pedestrian struck, fatally injured by pickup truck

LEA COUNTY, NM – A Texas man died after he was hit by a vehicle that attempted to swerve around a vehicle blocking the road, Everything Lubbock reports.

The driver of a 2019 Chevy Silverado was heading southbound on Orla Road when he tried to swerve around a stuck tractor-trailer that was blocking both lanes. The Chevy ran into a man who had exited his vehicle to help the tractor-trailer.

The wreck took place at about 11:43 p.m. Thursday, according to the New Mexico State Police.

The pedestrian, a 37-year-old from Texas, was pronounced dead after being transported to a hospital.
