ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Police are trying to find the driver responsible for a fatal hit-and-run crash in Albuquerque Monday, KRQE reports.
The incident happened near a Speedway Gas Station in the area of Avalon Road and Coors Boulevard. Police say a female pedestrian entered the roadway in front of the gas station and was hit by a white sports utility vehicle going south on Coors. The driver left the scene of the crash.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead after being taken to the University of New Mexico Hospital. Her name was not immediately released.
Police gathered parts from the SUV as part of their investigation. They are also hoping surveillance footage taken in the area will help them locate the vehicle and the driver.
Investigators do not believe that speed was a contributing factor in the incident.
