ALBUQUERQUE, NM – A pedestrian was critically injured when he was struck by a vehicle in Albuquerque Tuesday evening, according to KOB.com.

Police said the pedestrian was walking and pushing a shopping cart in the vicinity of Copper Avenue NE and Kally Court when he was hit by a 2014 Nissan SUV.  The driver had just looked up from adjusting the air conditioner when the incident happened, investigators said.

The pedestrian was transported to University of New Mexico Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

Albuquerque Police say speed and alcohol were not contributing factors in the crash, adding that the roadway was dark with minimal lighting at the time.
