ALBUQUERQUE, NM – A passenger was fatally injured after the vehicle they were riding in crashed into a truck earlier today, according to KOAT.
A driver was traveling along Louisiana Boulevard towards its intersection with Claremont Avenue when his vehicle struck a pickup truck.
The impact of the wreck caused the vehicle’s passenger to sustain severe injuries. He was transported to UNM Hospital, where he later passed away.
Investigators report that the driver was under the influence of methadone and marijuana at the time of the accident. It was also discovered that the driver was traveling at an excessive speed at the time of the wreck.
Police have taken the driver into custody and charged him with driving under the influence and vehicular homicide.
