FARMINGTON, NM – A woman was killed when the vehicle she was riding in was involved in a crash on U.S. 64 Thursday, New Mexico State Police reported.
Police said they were alerted to the collision near Farmington at about 10 p.m. Investigators determined that a 32-year-old man driving a Jeep eastbound rear-ended a Nissan Sentra that was also going east at a slow speed.
A passenger in the Sentra was pronounced dead at the scene and was identified as 48-year-old Susana Palacios-Valencia of Farmington. The Jeep driver and a 52-year-old woman who was driving the Sentra were injured but no details were available on their conditions. Another passenger in the Sentra, age 24, was not hurt.
New Mexico State Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
