News: Multi-vehicle wreck near Magdalena fatally injures two

MAGDALENA, NM – Two people were killed on Saturday in an accident involving a large truck, ABQ Journal reports.

A woman driving a Ford pickup truck was yielding to a commercial motor vehicle on Highway 60 when her vehicle was rear-ended by a Dodge pickup truck. The impact of the crash caused the Ford to collide with the CMV.

The accident took place at about 10 a.m. Saturday, according to New Mexico State Police.

Two passengers, a woman and her niece, were severely injured and died at the scene of the accident. The older woman was a 49-year-old basketball coach from Magdalena.

The highway was closed down after the wreck occurred. It’s unclear if it’s since been reopened.
