ALBUQUERQUE, NM – The Albuquerque Police Department reports it is investigating an accident that killed a motorcyclist Sunday night.
Officers responded to the scene of the crash in the area of Lomas Boulevard and Louisiana Boulevard. An investigation determined that the driver of a four-door sedan was heading east on Lomas Boulevard and making a turn onto Louisiana when the vehicle turned in front of a motorcycle going west on Lomas.
The motorcycle struck the sedan in a T-bone type collision, causing the motorcyclist to be thrown from the bike. He was rushed to the University of New Mexico Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The victim’s identity has not yet been released. Police said the driver of the sedan remained at the scene and gave statements to the primary responding officer.
Investigators believe speed from the motorcycle and improper driving were contributing factors in the crash, but said it did not appear alcohol was a factor.
