ALBUQUERQUE, NM – An alleged drunk driver is under arrest and facing charges after hitting three people in Albuquerque Friday night, according to KOB 4.
Police said 36-year-old Brandon Baldwin was driving a truck east on Alameda Boulevard shortly before 7 p.m. when two public safety aides directing traffic for the Balloon Fiesta told him to go in a different direction.
Baldwin intentionally hit the aides with his vehicle and drove away, a criminal complaint stated. He also struck a police officer who was trying to stop him.
Police eventually were able to apprehend Baldwin. Officers said he smelled of alcohol and also said they found two open containers of alcohol in his vehicle. He was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon among other charges.
The police officer and the safety aides were reported to be recovering from their injuries.
