CLOVIS, NM – Authorities announced an arrest in connection with a crash that killed a resident of a Clovis apartment building, according to Eastern New Mexico News.
22-year-old Matthew Delaware of Cannon is charged with homicide by vehicle, and was booked into the Curry County Adult Detention Center.
The accident occurred May 29 on the 3400 block of Lore Street. According to a criminal complaint, Delaware was driving a Ford Fusion when he crashed into an apartment building. The vehicle went through a wall and into the apartment of 74-year-old Gillian Sweeney, who was struck and killed.
Delaware is a former airman at Cannon Air Force Base, where officials said he was assigned to the 27th Special Operations Security Forces Squadron.
