SANTA FE COUNTY, NM – The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office released additional information regarding a fatal crash on Sunday, according to the Santa Fe New Mexican.
This is an update to a previous story.
The sheriff’s office identified the two people killed in the wreck as 39-year-old John Griego and his wife, 28-year-old Bryana Trejo, of La Cienega.
The couple were driving in a Hyundai in the area of Interstate 25 and New Mexico 599 at about 5 p.m. when they were hit by a Chevrolet truck. Investigators said the driver of the truck, 52-year-old Andres Lira-Hernandez, failed to stop at the intersection.
After Lira-Hernandez was taken into custody it was discovered that there was an active warrant out for his arrest, and he was booked into the Santa Fe County jail. The warrant involved a 2019 incident in which Lira-Hernandez was charged with drunken driving and reckless driving.
