News: Hit-and-run crash near Tingley Field leaves 1 dead

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – A car ran into a family of pedestrians on Sunday night, killing one child and injuring a man, according to KQRE.

A family was walking across a road near the ABQ BioPark River of Lights when a dark-colored vehicle failed to stop at a red light and struck two people. The car then fled the scene onto Central Avenue.

The accident happened at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday.

A 7-year-old child died from his injuries at the scene. His father was transported to the University of New Mexico Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The Albuquerque Police Department is currently searching for the driver.
