News: Driver killed in single-vehicle crash on Interstate 25 north of Santa Fe

SANTA FE COUNTY, NM – A driver was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 25 in Santa Fe County on Friday, New Mexico State Police reported.

Investigators said 65-year-old John Armijo was driving a Toyota RAV4 north on I-25 near mile marker 291 when the accident occurred shortly before 2 p.m. Armijo, a Pecos resident, drove off the roadway and the vehicle rolled. Armijo was ejected from the Toyota and was pronounced dead at the scene.

State police said alcohol appears to have been a contributing factor in the wreck. They added that seat belts were not apparently properly used.
