ALBUQUERQUE, NM – A driver has been indicted for the death of a pedestrian in northeast Albuquerque on Sept. 15, 2020, reports KRQE.

Juan Jose Murillo is charged with homicide by vehicle in connection with the accident that killed 33-year Rachanda Myers.

Murillo was exiting the Pan American Freeway onto Montgomery Boulevard when he struck Myers, who was sitting in a median off the freeway. She was pronounced dead after being taken to University of New Mexico Hospital.

Murillo told police that he tried to brake to avoid vehicles that were stopped ahead of him but his vehicle’s wheel locked up, causing him to slide forward over the median.
