WHITE ROCK, NM – A driver is facing charges in connection with a crash in White Rock last month that killed a pedestrian, according to the Los Alamos Reporter.
The incident occurred Sept. 20 in the vicinity of Piedra Loop and State Route 4. Authorities say 22-year-old Anna Niamh Short of White Rock was driving a vehicle at about 6:50 p.m. when she struck Reva Heron of White Rock. Heron died three days later at University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque.
Police said an apparent contributing factor in the incident was that Short was distracted by other activity. She told police she was adjusting her visor due to sunlight and did not see Heron before she hit her.
Short is charged with careless driving and failure to yield, and is due in court Oct. 19 on the charges.
