ALBUQUERQUE, NM – The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office said an alleged drunk driver who caused multiple crashes while being pursued by deputies last month is now facing charges.

According to KRQE, the suspect is 39-year-old Pete Fredrick Perez of Moriarty. A criminal complaint stated that deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Perez September 11 after reports he was driving a Toyota Tacoma recklessly on Tramway Boulevard.

Perez took off and eventually was involved in at least four crashes at various points along Tramway Boulevard before he stopped. Deputies say Perez fell to the ground after getting out of his car and showed indications of alcohol use.

He was arrested on numerous charges, including driving while intoxicated, aggravated assault on a police officer and four counts of leaving the scene of a crash.
